Love Leads to Persistent Pursuit
Love and lust, good and evil, night and day. We live in a world full of confusing situations, circumstances, and overwhelming challenges. But, for love!! What an amazing opportunity to know the love of Jesus. If you have ever pursued a romantic relationship, you know the passion that drives pursuit of your significant other. But, all too often, after the vows are exchanged, the pursuit ends. I dare suggest this is a leading cause of many marital issues in America today. What is even more tragic is the lack of passion to pursue a relationship with a loving God who has given so much for us! We settle for Sunday nuggets and lack the appetite to dig into His word and get to know Him. There is tremendous freedom in really knowing Him and His character.
I challenge you, break off the complacency that is so easy to get settled into. Recently, I began physical training after a year of little to no activity. To be honest, it is terrible. I do not like the soreness, the pain, but, I am extremely unhappy with my current level of fitness. Several years ago I made a personal commitment to work on my physical body, my spirit man, and my mind. This is part of the trifecta! How can we claim our love for Christ when we will give more time to a job that will replace us in a heartbeat, or to a gym to work on a body that is temporary, or hobbies, many of other things, but cannot devote time to God? I am not suggesting a legalistic, dogmatic, or militaristic approach, but I am suggesting each of us should solidify our pursuit and remain undaunted at the things that will attempt to distract us on our journey. About everything possible will attempt to throw you off your pursuit of God, but He assures us, “those who search for me will surely find me” (Proverbs 8:17 NLT.)
Heavenly Father, Create in me a hunger for Your Word, a passion to pursue You relentlessly, and an undaunted mind and spirit on the journey. Sustain me in my pursuit of You! -Amen
“I love all who love me. Those who search will surely find me.”
