What He Speaks, He Sustains

It began in Genesis, when God spoke creation into existence, it became. From what we perceive as nothing, everything we know as life appeared. Did you know there are more stars in the sky than there are grains of sand on earth? What powerful words our Father speaks! And in the same likeness, we see this nature of God again in Matthew 14. Jesus had been given the news of John the Baptist’s beheading and decided to retire for rest. The Word tells us it was late in the day already and people were gathering near where Jesus was. The disciples noticed the crowds and told Jesus they were going to send the people away, for them to get to the marketplace and purchase their own food. Here is where I use a bit of my own thoughts regarding the situation around this context. Jesus had compassion on the crowds, meaning, either there were sick and diseased, needy, hungry, they had travelled far to pursue Him, or a combination of those possibilities. He showed pity.

Jesus didn’t want to send the crowds away. Instead, He gave the command to the disciples for them to feed the crowds. With more than 5,000 men, not including women and children, this task seemed impossible. Maybe today you see a need in your life that, through the current conditions, seems impossible to meet. Maybe sickness is in place of those more than 5,000 people and your faith is merely equal to the few pieces of fish and bread. Maybe you are in dire need of financial breakthrough and all you have is a basket of provision for a few. On the other side of obedience to the Word of God is miraculous provision. We know, according to Hebrews 13:8 that “Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Therefore, the same power He blessed that bread and fish with exists today as we have access to the Holy Spirit. He has not changed my friends, even though the circumstances of this life may seem impossible, He speaks, and provision comes forth. What Word He speaks over our lives, He sustains. Take time today to declare His Word over your circumstances and watch what God will do!

Heavenly Father, Thank you for the faith to obey You in hard times and in prosperous and blessed times. Thank You for the boldness to declare Your Word and truth instead of choosing to worry and be afraid. In the midst of my circumstances, I choose to speak Your Word, and I know what You have spoken over me,You will sustain! -Amen

But Jesus said, “That isn’t necessary–you feed them.”
