The Principle of Obedience & Provision

The story of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22 is one of the most popular bible stories of my generation. Abraham is instructed by God to take the materials for a sacrifice to the top of a mountain, and in the beginning, his son, Isaac, is going to the sacrifice. It was a test of obedience by God of Abraham. When Abraham obeyed, God sent an angel to stop Abraham from harming his only son and in turn, decreed blessing over his life and his future.

I can’t help but see this through a modern perspective. If anything we are stewards over becomes so important we wouldn’t give it to God, it cannot be blessed by God to its fullest. But, when we obey the commands of God, He will bless our lives, our dreams, and multiply our seeds. There’s nothing in our lives right now that takes God by surprise or stresses Him out. Nothing in our lives causes God anxiety, and He is ready to provide for every need we have on the other side of our obedience.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the promise of provision and blessing on the other side of obedience to Your Word. Open the eyes of my heart so that I may gain understanding of Your Word and obey Your commands. -Amen
