The Fuel of Patience and the Gift of Hope

What if the only thing we had was the present and memories of the past? What if there was no future; no tomorrow, only now? It sounds rather depressing, but the foundation of our beliefs as followers of Christ is hope in salvation through Jesus alone. Our lives as a fallen creation are met with tremendous pain in this life. It is the pain of failure, the pain of personal loss, the pain of sickness, to name a few. Our hope is only found in Jesus. What a vastness between the life in this world and the comfort in God’s Word. The good news is that, for billions of people, there is a tomorrow, there is a future, but the hope we have in Christ means we must endure on this path until we experience the fullness of our hope in Christ.

Maybe today you are facing deep personal pain due to one reason or another. For some, everything in life is “just ok”, but they are tired from waiting, from holding on to hope, and they are in need of the hand of God to move in a mighty way. If any of these sound familiar to you, know there is only one thing we can do; hold steadfast in our hope, Jesus Christ. Hold fast to the promises of His Word, and do not allow the enemy to convince you that, because of a delayed answer from God, that He no longer cares for you or you are not important to God. The devil is a liar and a thief, and he wants nothing more than to destroy our lives and enslave us to a life of despair and hate. Your deliverance is near, your answer is on the way, your breakthrough is at hand. Patience tested is a virtue gained, but it is also a sure sign of the maturation of a Believer.

Heavenly Father, I surrender to You my moments, today, yesterday, and tomorrow. That means I give You my memories, good or bad, my plans, my dreams, and my desires. I place my hope solely in You and depend on You to direct me, to lead me, and to keep me. -Amen

We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.)
