Time for a Reckoning

Paul has a unique way of communicating the message in 2 Corinthians 10. The origin of these words in 2 Corinthians 10:5 have somewhat of a militant tone when referring to our thoughts and our obedience to Christ. What thoughts have a stronghold in your mind right and life right now? Those things imprison us and bind us as slaves and is therefore preventing us from experiencing the abundant life Jesus came to give. There is significant power in what we think on (meditate, dwell on, reckon), because it in effect determines what we speak, and the actions and behaviors we demonstrate.

Our thoughts must come into obedience to Christ. One way we can learn obedience to Christ is to monitor our thoughts. Just the mere fact of you reading this (and me writing it!) will cause us to become more mindful of the thoughts we entertain. If we are always thinking, even in a semi-unconscious state, negative thoughts that are contrary to God’s Word, bring them into obedience, aligning with the Word of God. We will then realize on a deeper level our absolute need to spend time with God, in prayer and studying the Bible. As you experience the renewing of your mind and thoughts through God’s Word, you will begin to see that the enemy has placed our generation in tremendous bondage for many years as it pertains to our mindset and thoughts. That has been a significant hindrance to the fullness of God’s power operating through and in us on a larger scale.

Heavenly Father, I surrender my thoughts to you. Thoughts of worry, fear, anxiety, doubt, unbelief, all unhealthy and unholy thoughts. Show me a glimmer of the power and abundance I can experience when I live a life that honors you in all I do. Reveal to me the power of having the Mind of Christ, a mind that seeks to honor You, to glorify You, and to overcome the evil in this World with the Truth You have armed me with. -Amen

We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
