Everyone, at some time in life, has felt like they hit a dead end. Maybe its health-related, relationships, finances, parenting, name the issue, we’ve been there. But too often, it feels like God is rebuking us for some action, sin, or action we failed to take. That’s the beauty of Psalm 39, in particular, Psalm 39:7. David found himself in a similar situation, troubled by the fragility of life, dealing with illness, the weight of God’s hand over his life seemed overwhelming.
If today’s life seems like it is crashing all around you, remember the comfort we find, not in our own confidence, but in turning to the Father. It is through a right relationship with Jesus we are empowered and given new life. Dead ends can be treacherous places. They can be overwhelming, and if we’re not careful, the dead-end places can be the places we die. But, we don’t have to die in the dead ends, we can die to our own will and desires but surrender to God in these moments. That’s what David did. That’s the purpose of Psalm 39. It’s a prayer, recognizing the frailty of life, and the incredible need to turn to God for our every breath.
There’s a time to be silent before the King, and there is a time to cry out, with all our being, for His help. We know the enemy wants our heads on a platter. He wants our marriages, our families, our futures, he wants to destroy everything about us, and he will stop short of nothing.
If today you are facing a hopeless situation, a place you’ve done all you know to do and you’ve come to the end of your road, it’s time to lift your eyes, cry out to God, and die to self. He is faithful to answer!
